Sydney Water Photograph Collection

Description

This collection was acquired from Sydney Water Corporation in 2010. The selected images are from the 1880s to1939 and are copies of negatives held by Sydney Water. Some photographs feature the Crown Street Pumping Station.

Sydney City Council was responsible for water supply in Sydney from 1842 but its role ended with the passing of the Metropolitan Water, Sewerage and Drainage Act, 1888.
