Johnny Barker Photograph Collection

This collection was acquired from the Sydney based photographer, Johnny Barker, in 2008-2009 and consists of 258 images.

The photographs document the street life of inner Sydney, with a focus on Surry Hills and the area around Central Railway Station, taken in 2003. Barker has an eye for light and mood and he is able to provocatively and sensitively capture moments when we are at our most human. His photo-journalism taps into the heart of the city - the candid photographs are thought-provoking, poignant, funny, human, real.
